What Do Snakes Hate The Most Of?

Snakes are a commonly misunderstood animal. They’re often seen as the enemy to house pets or people because they can be dangerous and frightening. In reality, snakes don’t want anything more than to live in peace and eat their prey, usually small rodents or insects. The only time a snake would attack you is if it’s scared and feels threatened by your presence. Let’s find out from the below what snakes truly hate.

Noise

Snakes are, in fact, timid creatures and do not like loud noises, and they will make distance from any noise that they hear.

Humans

Snakes don’t like humans; snakes are afraid of us. A snake will only attack a human when it feels threatened and has no choice. Some snakes even play dead to avoid confrontation, like the Hognose snake

The Cold

Snakes are cold-blooded reptiles, and they need the warmth from the environment around them to keep alive and healthy. However, snakes hate the cold as it puts their life at risk.

Scents

Snakes don’t smell using their noses; they use their tongue to smell. So a snake will flick its tongue out to gather the scent chemicals in the air. Below list is the type of scents that snakes hate.

  • Smoke
  • Cinnamon
  • Cloves
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Lime
  • Lemon

Dogs

Snakes Most snakes won’t choose to go near a dog as they are much bigger than them, plus being noisy. So simply by having your dog around, you will likely help to keep snakes away. However, you will need to be careful when out and about with your dog. Since they are curious animals, they often get bitten by snakes due to their curiosity.

How To Keep Snakes Away When Out Walking (Best Simple Way)

How To Keep Snakes Away From Swimming Pools (Best Simple Way)

Pour white vinegar around the swimming pool, as it acts as an effective snake repellent.

During the quiet nights, snakes like to move about, so it will be best if you poured the white vinegar around the edges at night. This way, the snakes won’t be taking a dip in your swimming pool. During the day, if the swimming pool is in use, most snakes will not approach the swimming pool due to their shy demeanour.

Ammonia

The above also works using ammonia instead of vinegar. However, please be careful of small children and use your parenting skills to decide whether it’s a good idea or not. Since ammonia is corrosive and can cause immediate burning of the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory tract and can result in blindness, lung damage or death, I must warn you of this.

If in doubt, call some local professionals that deal with repelling snakes.

Conclusion

Every animal and human on this planet will hate something. Above are the most hated things by snakes.
